Tom Barraclough

I'm a consultant and researcher working at the intersection of technology, law, and public policy.

Through my think tank, Brainbox Institute, and software company, Syncopate Lab, I advise governments, companies, and civil society on challenges in digital governance. My work focuses on AI regulation, platform transparency, and building better digital legal systems. Much of this work is produced with collaborators I admire, whose contributions are acknowledged throughout the site.

This website is a home for my work and a few personal interests. It's organized into several sections:

Feel free to explore using the navigation above.

This site was produced in 5 or 6 hours by issuing instructions to large language models like Claude Haiku 4.5 and Gemini (2.5 Flash and Pro) using VS Code and OpenRouter, as well as the Context7 MCP Server.

Some of the content was written from previously prepared materials. It costs nothing to run and I spent less than $20NZD pulling it together. It's built using Eleventy and deployed on Vercel.

I first started using AI coding tools in January 2025 and this site was deployed in December 2025. You can do this too!
